Love their long smooth trigger pull for tense situations. I traded for the PM9, much more expensive then the CW9, put they both run like a clock. Kel Tec P11 Serial Numberįor just a little more money and just a little larger the CW9 seems to be a very reliable and accurate CCW piece for me. In either case it wasn't the right CCW gun to count on. After 2 trips back to Kel-tec I still had FTF & FTE, maybe I was limp wristing, kinda doubt it but maybe so. I also wanted to love the PF9, it was my first Kel-Tec. Kel Tec Serial Number LookupĪt least mine wasn't and that IS the truth, popular or not. They are NOT, IMHO, up to the quality standards of Kahrs or other well made small guns. While I have not, lots of others have had extractor problems and trigger reset problems with them too. I'll tell you this, I might have believed that IF the change in my barrel hadn't made a difference of night and day. My point is not to say they are or can't be made reliable, just to warn you that, unless you have the latest version AND test it well, you are rolling the dice with your life, IMHO.Īdding to that problem, many KT owners are so tied up in brand loyalty, they chide anybody with a problem gun as a limp wrister or expecting too much from a small 9MM. Before the new barrel, I could not have reliably put seven rounds of plain round ammo through it. Through it without a failure and think it is trustworthy now. I have put over three hundred rounds, including thirty rounds of Hydrashok 124 grn. I was intent on trading it in but wanted to try one more fix because I had read at KT blogs and sites that the new barrel cured lots of ills, it did. I paid for the new barrel and in fairness, KT may have given it free IF I was willing to wait the eight week estimated wait IF I returned it to them. Kinda scary if you have an old style one and don't test it much. The differences between my barrel (serial number indicates late 07 production even though bought new in March 09) and the one I bought were significant, to say the least. I cleaned, buffed, sanded and lubed it to death, without significant improvements UNTIL I purchased an new, latest type barrel. No matter how firm I held it, to the point of a stand, it produced FTEs from nearly every magazine and type of round. Mine was a headache of the constant type. It seems like a higher than normal percentage have had problems, some with dealing with the normal need to have a firm grip BUT many with real problems with the design or execution in real life. Well, I have said before, I wanted to love my PF9. My quest for a new concealed carry gun started almost as soon as I bought a Smith and Wesson M& P compact.
